Dunakiliti is a community in Hungary.

background

In 1165 the community is mentioned for the first time under the name Kelud, and other names are also mentioned. The German name used until 1918 was Frauendorf.

A serf from Bratislava who was called Kilit, possibly Pope St. Cletus (Kilit), the word kilit also has a meaning in the Turkish language and should be called key here. In earlier times several watercourses of the Danube flowed near Dunakiliti, so earlier handicrafts were discovered through today's excavations. There are ship remains and utensils of the fishermen, traces of the forest workers and charcoal burners. The area used to be much richer in trees, but the heavy deforestation has greatly reduced the number of forests.

The municipality of Dunakiliti is located in the Mosonmagyaróvár small area.
