Echternach

Echternach, in local language Iechternach, is the most important city and center of the small Luxembourg Switzerland, Eifel, at the Angry, Luxembourg. The city is home to the canton's administrative headquarters Echternach.

  • Echternach is the fifth largest city Luxembourg, 25 km northeast of Luxembourg city, 25 km southwest of Bitburg, right on the border too Germany located. The German border community is Echternacherbrück.
  • The Luxembourg sub-region of the little Luxembourg Switzerland is also called Mullerthal. The region is part of the German-Luxembourg Nature Park.

To Water cheap or Ettelbruck, there regular bus connection (Mon-Sat every hour, Sun every 2 hours) from Luxembourg city from there is a train connection to trier from there by bus. However, it is a rather cumbersome journey, especially because of the 2 ½ hours travel time. There is a bus connection from Luxembourg City (every half hour)

By bicycle

  • Sauer cycle path (both sides): continuously on the Luxembourg side, with interruptions on the German side.
