By train
Ehrenfriedersdorf itself no longer has a connection to the rail network. The next train stations are Annaberg-Buchholz lower station (approx. 10 km away) and Burkhardtsdorf (approx. 12 km away)
By bus
The bus traffic through Ehrenfriedersdorf is through Regionalverkehr Erzgebirge GmbH ensured. The city has several stops. In the center there is the stop "Markt" (or in the opposite direction "Neumarkt").
In the street
The federal road 95 leads from Chemnitz direction Annaberg-Buchholz (and on after Czech Republic) directly through the city of Ehrenfriedersdorf. There is a Shell petrol station at the northern entrance to the village.

Parking spaces in the village are free of charge (some with a parking meter!). Parking at the Greifensteinen or at the Greifenbachstauweiher, however, is subject to a fee. There is an electric fast charging station on Neumarkt.
The city is served by four bus routes:
- 210: Chemnitz - Annaberg-Buchholz - Oberwiesenthal
- 238: Zschopau - Drebach - Ehrenfriedersdorf
- 432: Annaberg-Buchholz - Ehrenfriedersdorf - Thum
- 441: Ehrenfriedersdorf - Geyer - Schwarzenberg
The tariff of the Verkehrsverbund Mittelachsen applies (VMS). In the VMS tariff area, network tickets are valid on all public transport in the respective tariff zone. The Saxony (Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia) ticket is also valid on all VMS means of transport.
