Eiterfeld is located in the North Rhön far away from the major traffic axes and is therefore not very well visited.

The next train station is Hünfeld, from there there is a bus connection.

By bus

There are buses from Hünfeld to Eiterfeld (line 70). The buses run every hour Mon-Fri, there are only a few trips on Sat, nothing runs like this.

The connection from direction is much better Bad HersfeldFrom there there is also a bus (line 360) to Eiterfeld. The bus runs every two hours Mon-Fri and Sat, so only as a call taxi, which must be booked in advance.

Tourist Attractions

  • 1  Buchenau Castle, Hermann-Lietz-Strasse 13. The magnificent Buchenau Castle with its numerous preserved outbuildings towers over the small town. The castle is best known as the former seat of a reformed pedagogical Hermann Lietz school. Today the castle is privately owned and is used as a conference hotel with seminar rooms.
  • 2  Fürsteneck Castle. The hilltop castle on the outskirts of Eiterfeld dates back to the 14th century, the current buildings date from 1708. Today it is used by the State of Hesse as a folk high school.
