Elmstein is a community in Palatinate Forest.

Elmstein is the largest municipality in the whole of Rhineland-Palatinate (excluding independent cities). About 90% of the area is made up of the deserted wilderness of the Palatinate Forest. The population is spread over the numerous small villages along the traffic axes through the Palatinate Forest.
The most important places in Elmstein next to the city center are Iggelbach (starting point for numerous hiking trails) and Speyerbrunn (this is where the Speyerbach rises, which flows into the Rhine at Speyer).

A museum railway, which is well worth seeing, leads to Elmstein Cuckoo pegs. During the season, the trains run every 2nd Sunday of the month and on special occasions (with advance notice) from Neustadt Hbf, some with historical rolling stock.
The next regularly served train station is in Lambrecht (Palatinate).
By bus
There is a bus connection (line 517) from Lambrecht, on weekends even from Neustadt main station. The line always runs every hour, even on weekends; in the season from Sunday to St. John's Cross.

a road branches off into the Elmsteiner valley.
Important: Numerous roads in the Elmsteiner Tal are closed to motorcyclists! If you want to travel by two-wheeler, you should find out more!

If you really want to explore all the settlements in the place, you need either a very good physical condition or a car. Elmstein is extremely spacious and numerous places are hidden deep in the forest.
Tourist Attractions
- 1 Catholic Church of the Heart of Mary, Schankstrasse 11. The Catholic Church in Elmstein, built from 1950 to 1952, is now an important pilgrimage church. It replaced an older, smaller Catholic church in the valley from the 18th century, which also still exists.
- 2 Catholic Church of St. Wendelinus and Hubertus, Johanniskreuzer Strasse 1. This Catholic church from 1932 stands at the entrance to Speyerbrunn.
- 3 Elmstein Castle
