St. John's Cross is lying in Palatinate Forest.

background

Johanniskreuz is, so to speak, the Palatinate's Mecca for hikers. Almost all long-distance hiking trails of the Palatinate Forest Association, especially all long-distance hiking trails marked with a cross, meet here. As a result, an infrastructure has emerged that is almost entirely geared towards the hikers' clientele like hardly any other place in Germany. Bikers also like to stop here, as Johanniskreuz is close to the geographical center of the Palatinate Forest with its extensive, winding roads.

By plane

By train

Johanniskreuz is far from railway lines, the next train stations are in Hochspeyer and Kaiserslautern. Other train stations in the area have no further connection to Johanniskreuz.

By bus

The journey by public transport is, as one would expect from a place in the middle of the wilderness, very bad.

There is a call taxi in the season (Easter to October). The call taxi must be ordered at least 60 minutes before the journey by calling 0631 366777. There are two lines:

  • 135: Fischbach - Hochspeyer Bahnhof - Johanniskreuz (Wed and Sun every two hours, a total of 4 trips)
  • 150: Kaiserslautern Hauptbahnhof - Trippstadt - Johanniskreuz (Sun every two hours, a total of 4 trips)

From May to October, buses run every two hours on Sundays from Neustadt Hauptbahnhof to Johanniskreuz (line 517). These buses are a regular offer and do not have to be booked in advance!

In the street

Johanniskreuz is located directly on the B48. The place is z. B. quite quickly from the A6, Departure Symbol: AS17 Enkenbach-Alsenborn (20 km drive).

mobility
