Engelberg is a community in the Central Switzerland. The city with 3600 inhabitants is 35 km from Lucerne away. She became known through the Benedictine monastery.

By train

From Lucerne there are hourly connections to Engelberg. The first connection leaves at 05:05 a.m. From 6:10 am there are hourly IR connections that do not stop as far as Stans. The last train leaves at 11:27 p.m. The journey time is 43 minutes. In the late evening you have to change to a bus in Dallenwil. (As of 2016)

By car

Coming from Lucerne or the south (Ticino, Italy), leave the A2 motorway at the Stans Süd exit and follow the well-signposted and well-developed main road to Engelberg. Be careful with the many changes in speed.

On foot

Engelberg can be reached from Dallenwil or Grafenort via the well-developed Aa gorge hiking trail. This leads over suspension bridges. However, it is advisable to take the path down from Engelberg.

Engelberg can also be reached via the Surenen Pass from Attinghausen in the canton of Uri. In winter the Jochpass is part of the ski area, in summer you can hike over the Jochpass from the canton of Bern to Engelberg. The Juchli Pass (from the Melchtal) is more demanding.

The use of the buses in Engelberg is free of charge. Engelberger Auto-Betriebe AG operates seven lines in winter. Lines 2 to 7 run every half hour, with lines 3 and 5 complementing each other every quarter of an hour, and have a lunch break.

Engelberg has two ski areas. The Brunni ski area is suitable for families and is located on the sunny slope. The Titlis ski area has 82 kilometers of slopes and an altitude difference of 2040 meters.
