It is known beyond the national borders and is accessible from two sides by mountain railways: Von Kriens, a suburb of Lucerne, three cable car sections lead upwards, from Alpnach in Obwalden a rack railway. A round trip is ideal: First you take the bus to Kriens, the cable car to Mount Pilatus, the cog railway to Alpnach and from there by train or boat back to Lucerne.
  • The next, very well-known panoramic mountain is the Rigi-Kulm. She is from Vitznau and from Goldau Accessed by cogwheel railways, there is also a cable car from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad, where you can change to the cogwheel train. A round trip is also a good idea here: You take the ship to Vitznau, from there you take the cogwheel train to Rigi-Kulm, and then back down on the other side Goldau and from there by train to Lucerne.
  • Another well-known panoramic mountain is that Stanserhorn at Stans in Nidwalden. It is accessible with two cable cars from Stans: the first section is a funicular that is over a hundred years old, the second a modern cable car with an open upper deck.
  • The fourth well-known vantage point around Lucerne is the Titlis. With a height of over 3,000 m, it is also the highest among them. Of Engelberg OW a gondola lift and a cable car with a rotating cabin lead up the mountain. At the top there is a glacier, which you can even step onto in the glacier grotto, and a suspension bridge.
