Olten is a city in the canton Solothurn in the Switzerland and one of the most important railway hubs in the Swiss rail network. The old industrial city, which has grown historically thanks to industrial companies such as the Berna truck factory or the Swiss Federal Railways SBB with their workshops, is changing thanks to its central location to a service and education location in the Swiss plateau. Many large Swiss companies such as Swisscom, Alpiq, and SBB use the city's central location to locate jobs. Olten lies on the river Aare and is embedded in the first Jura hills and delimited to the south from Born and Engelberg to the east at an altitude of around 400 meters above sea level.
