Fatehpur Sikri is a city in Uttar Pradesh. It is on the border with Rajasthan around 40 km west of Agra. Since 1986 the palace district has been part of the World Heritage.

The town Fatehpur Sikri was made by Mughal mogul Akbar built in the years 1569-1574. Sheikh Salim Chisti, who lives in Sikri, had predicted that Akbar would have three sons as heirs. When this happened, Akbar left Fatehpur, the city of victory build. As early as 1571 he moved into the new town with his court, but in 1585 he moved his residence for military reasons Lahore. What remained was a city in a unique style, which for the UNESCO world cultural heritage counts.

Fatehpur Sikri can be easily reached from Agra and Bharatpur. Buses also run from Bharatpur Shared jeeps. You stop at the intersection of the main street with the side street into the center. The historical sites and the city center are a bit off the main road. However, the usual local means of transport in India are available at the intersection or you can take a walk there.

The city's buildings were created in a single construction phase from red sandstone. The construction reflects the style of the Mughal rulers. Although of Islamic belief Akbar allowed figurative representations, as they are common in Hinduism.
- 1 Jama Masjid. The mosque was the first to be completed in Fatehpur Sikri.
- 2 Mausoleum of Sheikh Salim Chisti (सलीम चिश्ती की दरगाह). The white marble mausoleum stands in the courtyard of the mosque and is considered one of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture.
- 3 Buland Darwaza (बुलन्द दरवाज़ा). The Buland Darwaza or Victory Gate was subsequently added to the complex of the mosque and towers over it.
- Diwan i Khas. In the audience hall, the figuratively decorated pillar in the middle is an extraordinary detail.
- The water supply via a central cistern
- A playing field for Pachisithat is paved in the yard. Slaves were used as pawns.
- 4 Panch Mahal (पंच महल). A five-story palace.
