Foggia is a city in Apulia, it is the capital of the province of the same name.
background
In Roman times the place was under the name Herdonia known. The Staufer Frederick II moved his residence from 1222 Palermo to Foggia. However, only small remains of his residential palace have survived.

- 1 Chiesa della Beata Maria Vergine Assunta in Cielo (Santa Maria di Foggia). Built in 1175 under Wilhelm II of Sicily, renovated under Frederick II. Destroyed in the 1731 earthquake, then rebuilt in Baroque style.
