Fougères is a french City in the department Ille-et-Vilaine in the Brittany.

It is the capital of the Arrondissement Fougères and the administrative center for two cantons.

The arrangement of the castle and town is unusual. Because the city is on a hill, while the castle in the valley of the Nançon is on a rocky island. They are connected to each other by the city wall.
