Friedrichsdorf is a small town with approx. 25,000 inhabitants in Vordertaunus on the southeast Taunus edge, about 20 kilometers or a 30-minute drive from Frankfurt am Main away.

In the city there are the districts Friedrichsdorf, Seulberg, Köppern and Burgholzhausen vor der Höhe. It is the northern neighbor of bad Homburg. Friedrichsdorf was founded in 1687 under Landgrave Friedrich II of Hessen-Homburg for Protestant religious refugees from France who Huguenots, which partly kept their mother tongue until the early 20th century, and which is reminiscent of the name of Friedrichsdorfer Hauptstraße.

By train

The city is the terminus of the Frankfurt S-Bahn line 5, which runs every half hour to Frankfurt-Süd. In between, the Taunusbahn runs from Bad Homburg via Usingen to Brandoberndorf, which in Bad Homburg has a connection with the S-Bahn to Frankfurt-Süd. Another branch line goes to Friedberg.
