By plane
The small airport Odense "Hans Christian Andersen" (ODE) is only used for seasonal charter connections (with the Mediterranean and the British Isles; but not with German-speaking countries).
The nearest major airports are Billund (BLL; 60 km from Middelfart, 105 km from Odense) and Copenhagen (CPH; 135 km from Nyborg, 165 km from Odense). From Copenhagen Airport Station you can take the Lyntog to Odense or take the IC to Nyborg, Langeskov and Middelfart. The journey takes an average of two hours (depending on the type of train and destination). From Billund Airport it takes a good hour by bus and train to Middelfart, and 1½ hours to Odense.
By train
The busiest line of the Danish State Railways, the Copenhagen connects with Jutland, leads across Funen. Intercity buses run on this every half hour Nyborg, Langeskov, Odense and Middelfart hold, and every hour the faster one Lyntogwhich only stops in Odense. The drive from Copenhagen to Odense takes 1:15 hours (Lyntog) or 1:35 hours (IC). Some of the trains come in the opposite direction Aarhus (1:35 hours to Odense), partly off Esbjerg (1:20 hours to Odense) or Sønderborg (2:15 hours to Odense).
Coming from Germany you have to go to Kolding change. The fastest connection from Flensburg to Odense, for example, takes just under two hours, and from Hamburg just under four hours.
In the street
The island is accessible by bridges Zealand, Jutland and Langeland connected. For the 170 km from Copenhagen to Odense about 1:45 hours are estimated in good traffic conditions; for the 155 km from Flensburg as well.
By boat

On the main route Middelfart – Odense – Langeskov – Nyborg there are intercity trains every half hour, and regional trains with more stops between Middelfart and Odense every hour. Another regional train line runs every half hour from Odense via rings to Svendborg.
