Info

Located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, Galicia has always been a very distinct part of Spain. This was and is caused by, among other things, the climate, which makes Galicia a much greener part of Spain, and because, for example, the Moors never conquered the area, so that the area has been able to retain its customs and habits for a long time. Galicia is known for its coast, where spectacular rock formations and small idyllic fishing villages alternate, for the green interior with many rivers and typical house construction, and of course for Santiago de Compostela, the terminus of the world-famous pilgrimage route, where pilgrims and other visitors flock to the to admire beautiful architecture.

Language

In Galicia there are 2 official languages, namely Spanish and Galician. Galician is a kind of mixture of Celtic, Portuguese and Spanish. Often things like names of cities are indicated in those 2 languages.
