An important branch of the economy of the place is because of the situation directly on the lake and the proximity to some Christian sites the tourism; The kibbutz is also active in agriculture, including banana plantations.

Tourist Attractions

The "Jesus Boat"
Man of Galilee Museum in Ginnosar
Adam Bagalil Museum

The most important attraction of the "Adam Bagalil" ("Man of Galilee") museum, which also deals with Galilee, is the so-called "Jesus boat". It is a relatively well-preserved, old fishing boat over eight meters long. It was discovered in 1986 by two members of the kibbutz in the bank mud at a historic low in the Sea of Galilee. In a dramatic rescue operation, the boat was first recovered with the help of archaeologists and volunteers and then cleaned, dried and preserved in a pool built for this purpose over a period of years. This made it possible to secure the boat to such an extent that it has been exhibited in the museum in the dry since 2000.

The find is especially interesting because the boat was dated to the period between 100 BC and 70 AD, leaving room for speculation as to whether Jesus or one of his disciples may have already sailed the boat (which, from a historical point of view, of course is rather unlikely).

The discovery of the boat was a stroke of luck for the kibbutz: the boat is being marketed especially for Christian travelers, and an extra room has been set up in the museum. In addition to the boat, you can see photos as well as a short film (also in German) that reports on the rescue operation at the time.

Another exhibition room provides information about the life of the Hebrew politician and temporary foreign minister Igal Alonwho was a kibbutz member from a young age.
