Gjakove (Đakovica in Latin Serbian) is a city in the west of Kosovo populated by about 101,000 inhabitants.
Understand
Gjakovë is a center of culture and learning in Kosovo. It was established as market town, having the biggest bazaar from Balkans and called Çarshia e Madhe (the "Grand Bazaar"). Several old trades are still active there. The city lies in the Dukagjin Valley in western Kosovo between Prizren, to the south, and Pejë, North. It was once a link in the Highlands of Gjakovë, now on the border of northern Albania.
The townspeople are fond of music whose humor and sarcasm set them apart from the music of the rest of Kosovo.
