Trombone - Grębień

Grębień - village in Poland located in voivodeship of Lodz, in Wieluń County, in Pątnów commune.

In the years 1975-1998, the town administratively belonged to the Sieradz Province.

History

The first mention of the village then called Gramben comes from 1299 and concerns a donation by Stoigniew of one part of the village to the Gniezno Chapter, realized only after the verdict of the land court in 1362. The other part of the village was taken over by the archbishop of Gniezno by way of exchange. The village was founded under German law in 1323, and the first village administrator was named Swantor. In the village there is a cremation graveyard of the Lusatian culture from 9th-7th century BC.

Historical monuments

The most valuable monument on the scale of the Lodzkie Voivodship is located about 2 km from the road to Kluczbork, hidden among trees, the wooden church of Holy Trinity from around 1500, expanded (sacristy, porch) in the years 1900-1914. Belonged to the late medieval churches of the Wieluń group, it is one of the very valuable monuments of wooden architecture, both due to its architectural value and interior design. The rood beam comes from the 16th century. The door frames from the porch to the nave and from the chancel to the sacristy with a "donkey back" pattern come from the same time. Timbered, timbered, covered with a high shingle roof, with a tower slightly higher than the ridge of the roof. there is a polychrome inside on the walls of the nave, a late gothic one with motifs from the Passion of the Lord and a gothic-renaissance polychrome on the vault of the foundation of Primate Jan Łaski from 1520-1531. Secular motifs in the paintings of the nave vaults, including the coats of arms of Korab, Jastrzębiec and the eagle, are particularly noteworthy. Jagiellonian and figures of musicians in period costumes ("plebeian" and "court") accompanying St. Anna Samotrzec in the composition of the Dormition of the Mother of God. the main one is a Gothic wooden triptych from the 16th century with sculptures of the Mother of God with the Child, St. Barbara and St. Nicholas, and a Gothic sculpture of God Father on the throne. According to tradition, this altar was to be the field altar of Hetman Jan Zamoyski during the Battle of Byczyna. Entrance portals profiled in the shape of a "donkey's spine", doors with fittings from the time of the construction of the church. In the years 1810-1816 a new belfry was erected. The church can be visited on Sunday after the mass, and after agreement with the parish priest in Dzietrzniki. The church in Grębień is the most interesting monument from the group of late medieval churches in Wieluń, consisting of fourteen wooden churches built in a uniform style. All of them are of carcass construction, timbered, covered with a steep shingle roof with one low tower on the west side. The most valuable churches in this group also include the church of All Saints in Popowice, the church of st. John the Baptist in Łaszewo, the church of st. Andrew in Kadłubie, the church of Of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gaszyn, the church of of St. Zygmunt and Valentine in Wiktorów, the church of All Saints in Naramice.

In 1719, the Gniezno chapter granted the land to the parish priest of Kadłuba, obliging him to renovate the church. In the years 1810-1816, a new belfry was erected, still standing today. In the 19th century, the church changed its parish: in 1827 into the Pątnów parish, and in 1863 into a parish in Krzyworzece, and from 1904 it belonged to the Dzietrzniki parish.

The church in Grębień is the most interesting monument from the group of late medieval churches in Wieluń, consisting of fourteen wooden churches built in a uniform style. All of them are of carcass construction, timbered, covered with a steep shingle roof with one low tower on the west side. The most valuable churches in this group also include the church of All Saints in Popowice, the church of st. John the Baptist in Łaszewo, the church of st. Andrew in Kadłub, the church of Of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gaszyn, the church of st. st. Zygmunt and Walenty in Wiktorów, the church of All Saints in Naramice.
