Guria (Georgian გურია, Guria) is a historical region and administrative province (Mchare) in Georgia. The capital is Osurgeti

Guria is one of the smallest regions in Georgia and is divided into three administrative districts (raione), which are named after the regional capitals:

  • Osurgeti - at the same time also the capital of Guria - on the hill country, which is the Lesser Caucasus is upstream, and with some seaside resorts on Black Sea
  • District Lanchuti lies largely in the Colchian lowlands south of the Rioni River

By plane

Nearest airports are in Kutaisi and Batumi, but you have a larger selection of international flights in Tbilisi or Trabzon.

By train

Lanchuti is on the railway line Samtredia-Batumimany, but not all, moves Tbilisi There is a daily night train to Osurgeti from Tbilisi (via Natanebi) and a daily regional train from Batumi (Machindschauri)

By bus

Numerous minibus connections (marshrutka) from all major towns in the surrounding regions. From Tbilisi the buses depart from Didube or the central train station (above).

In the street

The main street ს 12 (Samtredia-Lanchuti-Grigoleti) crosses the north of the region. In Grigoleti this flows into the ს 2 (Sarpi-Batumi-Kobuleti-Potentiometer-Senaki). Regional road შ 2 (Sadschawacho-Chochatauri-Osurgeti-Kobuleti) crosses the region diagonally from the northeast to the southwest.

  • Marshrutkas between the small towns are rare. The best way to get around is in your own car or by hitchhiking.
  • The side roads are mostly bad gravel roads, but the secondary roads from Osurgeti to Lantschchuti and the road from Tschochatauri to Bachmaro are now very well developed and as panoramic routes are worth a trip in and of themselves!
