background
The economic development of Lantschchuti began at the beginning of the 20th century with the connection to the Samtredia-Batumi railway line. Agricultural products from the area were - and still are - processed here. The city is also otherwise industrial, where building materials are manufactured. Lantschchuti received urban-type settlement status in the 1930s, and in 1961 city rights were granted.
