Heimbuchenthal is located in the upper Elsava valley in the middle of the nature park Spessart. The community is the seat of the administrative community Mespelbrunn and the school association Elsavatal.

Heimbuchenthal was first mentioned in a document in 1282. Today, the Spessart town with around 2200 inhabitants is the most popular tourist destination in the Spessart.

By plane
The nearest airport is that airport Frankfurt(IATA: FRA), about 60 km away, accessible via the A3, Weibersbrunn exit.
In the street
Coming from Frankfurt / Main on the or if you are coming from Würzburg, take the Weibersbrunn exit. Drive towards Aschaffenburg and then turn towards Mespelbrunn / Heimbuchenthal.

- Bicycle museum "Pedalwelt" in the Kernsmühle: Here you can find the most unusual and funniest bicycles, some of which you can try out yourself.
- The Catholic St. Martin Church was built in 1757 in rococo style.
- The Chapel "Lady of the Mountains": The field chapel was built in 1853. It is often visited as a place of prayer. From there you have a wonderful view of the Elsava valley and over the Spessart heights.

- To the Mespelbrunn moated castle - The romantic moated castle was built in the 15th to 16th centuries. Some of the castle rooms are accessible. A small but worth seeing castle park surrounds the complex. The film "Das Wirtshaus im Spessart" with Lilo Pulver was shot here.
