Hellesylt is a very small place at the end of the Sunnylvsfjord, a branch of the Storfjord. The small settlement is best known for the car ferry that travels from here several times a day through the well-known Geirangerfjord to Geiranger starts. During the summer months, the number of tourists passing through during the day is a multiple of the inhabitants of the small town, which also offers opportunities and occasions for a longer stay. Many cruise ships that are on their way to the Geirangerfjord also make a detour to the end of the Sunnylvsfjord to Hellesylt that remains from the junction of the Geirangerfjord.

The nearest airport is the airport near by Ålesund.

There is no nearby rail connection, the rail network is practically non-existent in this region of Norway.
Connection to the Room tabs exists in about 100 km to the north Åndalsnes, however, the bus connections between the two places are very cumbersome.

The Rv 
runs through Hellesylt, from the north of Ålesund can be reached via Hellesylt Strada after about 90 km.
Coming from the south is from Førde on 
and Rv 170 km to Hellesylt.
By boat

Out of season 4 departures per day in each direction, first departure Geiranger 8.00 a.m., Hellesylt 9.30 a.m., last departure Geiranger 5.00 p.m., Hellesylt 6.30 p.m.Price: Car driver NOK 310, adult NOK 155.
By bicycle
The national cycle route 3 leads to about 820 km from Kristiansand on the south coast through the middle of southern and western Norway to Spjelkavik just before Ålesund and also through Hellsylt.
