By plane
The nearest airport with regular domestic and international connections is in Dresden.
By train
Long-distance trains go to Dresden Hbf or Dresden-Neustadt, from there it continues with the S-Bahn S1 to Pirna. From there by bus in the direction of Sebnitz to Hohnstein or with the National Park Railway U28 to Sebnitz and from there with bus 237 (direction Pirna) to Hohnstein (several stops in the city area).

- 2 Hohnstein town church. Baroque choir tower church based on a design by the master builder of the Dresden Frauenkirche, George Bähr.
- Traditional hand puppet show - Museum about the puppeteer Max Jacob, who became known with his Hohnsteiner Kasper (info). Every year towards the end of May / beginning of June the Hohnstein Puppet Festival instead of.
- At the top Polenztal, at the Bockmühle (OT Cunnersdorf), is the largest natural occurrence of Märzenbechern in Saxony. The lower Polenztal forms a deeply cut "canyon" with rock walls towering up to 150 m. This is where the Couch grotto.
