Idjevan is a city of Northern Armenia.

Understand

Idjevan is the administrative, economic, religious and cultural center of the Tavoush region of approximately 20,000 inhabitants. The city sits 650-850 meters above sea level in the valley of the Aghstev river and is renowned as one of the most beautiful places in Armenia, largely thanks to the lush forests, flora and fauna and natural sources that surround it. Idjevan is also rich in historical and cultural monuments. From 1985 to 1991, several art exhibitions devoted to sculpture were held in the city now known as the "city of 100 sculptures". Even today many sculptures are created from the rocks of the region to the delight of visitors and art lovers. These sculptures decorate the many parks, streets and groves of Idjevan. The Idjevan region is one of the oldest cradles of craftsmanship in Armenia and since 1991 Idjevan has been officially recognized as a spa resort. Idjevan is therefore a city full of charm but is still little frequented by tourists.

To see

The city is very pleasant to visit on foot. Some buildings of Soviet architecture are quite neat like old hotels and the chess house. Many of the old houses are in a very beautiful traditional style and the river is quite beautiful except for the waste. There's even a sculpture park, an old Ferris wheel that will need repairs, and a semi-abandoned botanical garden. Other than exploring the city on foot, there aren't many specific sites that you absolutely must see. It's just a nice town with a few great places to explore in the area.
