      Inner Hebrides - The Inner Hebrides are a group of islands located off the west coast of Scotland, southeast of the Outer Hebrides. They consist of: Skye, Mull, Islay, Jura, Lismore, Coll, Tiree, Colonsay and the Small Islands, including Bracket.
      Outer Hebrides (Outer Isles or Western Isles) - The Outer Hebrides comprise a series of islands off the west coast of Scotland. They consist of: Lewis and Harris, North Uist, South Uist, Berneray, Benbecula, Eriskay, Bar is Saint Kilda.

How to get

By plane

In the triad of islands: Islay is Jura that almost touch and, moved further west, the smallest Colonsay, you can get there by plane directly from Glasgow but with more time available it is more exciting to make the crossing at sea aboard one of the CalMac ferries that sail from Tarbert (Kintyre peninsula).

On boat

To get to Colonsay there are ferries of the CalMac lines shuttle with the stopover of Oban.

More sparse links per Bar is South Uist, islands of the group of Outer Hebrides (Outer Hebrides or Western Isles) which can be reached more easily by boat from Skye or even by plane directly from Glasgow.

If, on the other hand, you want to reach the island of Skye you can take the train from Glasgow leads you to Mallaig, a tiny port where you get on board one of the frequent boats that will take you to the other side in less than half an hour.
