Jackson is a city of United States of America, the county seat of Teton County, in the State of Wyoming.

To know

Jackson is the largest city (pop 10,000) in the Jackson Hole Valley in Teton County, Northwestern Wyoming, near the southern end of the Grand Teton National Park. It is the gateway to two of the most famous national parks in the United States, Grand Teton itself and its neighbor Yellowstone. Many famous people run vacation homes in and around this area. The combined elements of beautiful mountain scenery, Old West legacy, tourist traps and resident celebrities give this small town a unique feel that is both cosmopolitan and frontier.

The terms "Jackson" and "Jackson Hole" are often mistaken. "Jackson" is the name of the city, while "Jackson Hole" refers to the large area of the valley (including, for example, the towns of Wilson and Kelly) or the Jackson Hole ski resort.

Jackson transforms from a popular ski resort during the winter into a mecca for travelers here to admire and participate in boundless summer beauty and activities. Meanwhile, in the spring and fall season, the city slows down as only 6,000 residents remain throughout the year (and many of them may leave during this time as well) and many of the hotels and restaurants close for the season. Each of the seasons has its advantages and disadvantages depending on the visitor's expectations and wishes, but it is worth knowing which time of year is best for which activity, especially in Jackson's unique high-altitude environment.
