In the north it borders with Russia, in the south and east with Azerbaijan, in the west with the regions Lower Kartlia and Mtskheta-Mtianeti. The main river of the eastern part of the region is Alazani, the western one - Iori. The inhabitants of Kakheti speak the dialect of the Georgian language
