Cairo - the capital and the largest city Egypt.

Characteristic

There are no exact statistics on the population of Cairo. This is caused by the constant wandering of the inhabitants. It is estimated that a thousand new residents come here every day. Over 2 million people live in the so-called "City of the Dead". Cairo is called the "City of a Thousand Minarets" or the "Mother of the World". It is the largest center of the Islamic world. It is situated on the Nile.

Drive

By plane

4 hours from Warsaw. Air Cairo and LOT Polish airlines.

By car

Cairo's roads are among the most dangerous in the world. In 40 years, road safety has reached a level equal to the European average and twice as high as in the Middle East. The main cause of accidents is the great congestion on the roads. In the center of the agglomeration there is the largest square and a roundabout in Cairo - Midan Tahrir.

By rail

Cairo is the country's largest railway junction. It connects the three railroads of Egypt - the line to upper Egypt (Luxor, Aswan), a line to the delta and continuing along the Mediterranean coast (Alexandria down Marsa Matruh), and a line running to the coast of the Red Sea and then parallel to the Suez Canal to the north (Suez and Ismailia). The main train station is Ramses Station, but trains from Suez end at the more peripheral station which is connected by a metro line to the center.
