Calvary

In imitation of the Jerusalem Calvary, on Mount St. Anna erected calvary, consisting of 40 chapels.

History

In the years 1700-1709, 30 small and 3 large Passion Chapels were built. In 1756, the Franciscans took over Calvary. This year, the renovation of the old chapels and the construction of new ones, on the "Mary's Paths." trees were planted on it and a chapel "III Fall" was built. In 1910, the "Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary" chapel was built. In recent years, 27 chapels were renovated.

Description

Today, the Calvary consists of forty chapels. The most important monument on Calvary is the Church of St. Cross, which contains three altars depicting the successive stations of the Cross. It is located on Golgotha, right next to the three crosses.
