The three segments that were destroyed during the war have now been rebuilt.

  • The bridge can be crossed on foot. There are side platforms to enjoy the view and avoid the trains. However, there is no railing. If you get dizzy easily, you should avoid the trip.
  • The railway company offers 15-minute train rides across the bridge (THB 20).

trips

  • Si Nakharin Reservoir. Located on the Khwae Yai with national park and Huay Mae Khamin waterfall.
  • Nakhon Pathom. The largest stupa in the world is on the way between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi (two hours away).
  • Wat Pa Luangta Bua - In this monastery, Asian tigers live side by side with Buddhist monks. It is located on National Road 323 about 35 km from Kanchanaburi. The name of the monastery was given by Luangta Maha Bua Yanasampanno, the famous meditation guru. According to its own information, the monastery wants to spread Buddhism and preserve forests and wildlife. In addition to adult tigers, there are also young animals born in the temple. There are also other animals such as pigs, deer, peacocks, chickens, horses and water buffalos, among others, animal welfare organizations raise serious allegations against the facility: the tigers are sedated with medication for the tourist shows, are not properly kept and poorly fed, and they receive necessary veterinary treatment withheld.
  • Wat Tam Khao Pun. Cave temple about 4 km outside of the city of Kanchanaburi on road 3228 with a good view of the river Khwae Noi.
