By plane
At the southern tip of the island is the national one Karpathos Airport
(IATA: AOK). It is open all year round Olympic Airways out Athens, Rhodes, Kasos and Sitia approached. During the holiday season there are also direct flights from charter companies and low-cost airlines from several European cities.
By boat
From the ferry ports in Pigadia and Diafani there are good ferry connections to the neighboring islands, especially to Crete, to Rhodes and Santorini. Car ferries from Piraeus are on the road for almost 24 hours on this route.

Karpathos has a Mediterranean climate. A major characteristic of the Mediterranean climate is the strong winds during the summer, known as Meltemi ("Etisien"). During the winter, however, there is only light precipitation and mild temperatures.
