Kipfenberg is a market on the Altmühl in Upper Bavaria. The geographical center of the Free State of Bavaria is located in the municipality.

In and around Kipfenberg there are testimonies of human settlement from several millennia. Special features of the place directly on the Altmühl are the castle, which lies high above the place, the remains of the Limes in the vicinity of the place and the geographical center of Bavaria, which is a few hundred meters away from the castle.

By train
The closest train station is Kinding (Altmühltal) on the Nuremberg – Ingolstadt regional express line. From there it is a good 5 km to Kipfenberg.
By bus
The bus line 9222 of the RBA regional bus Augsburg runs once a day from the Kinding train station to Kipfenberg (departure Kinding 10.30 a.m., arrival in Kipfenberg 10.45 p.m.; return trip 3.10 p.m., arrival in Kinding 3.25 p.m.). Line 9232 leaves about once an hour on school days Eichstatt to Kipfenberg, the journey takes 35–45 minutes. At the weekend and during the holidays there are only four buses a day on the line.
In the street
Kipfenberg is on State Road 2230, which runs along the Altmühl from Eichstätt to Beingries. The A9 motorway (Nuremberg – Munich) runs through the municipality, but Kipfenberg does not have its own junction, so you can either Denkendorf (7 km south) or Altmuehltal (8 km north) must exit.

Both the Altmühltal and Limes cycle paths lead through Kipfenberg. Kipfenberg has a very well-kept and pretty town center, especially the colorful houses around the market square. The main attraction, however, is the castle, which towers around 80 meters above the town (steep climb).
- Roman and Bavarian Museum Kipfenberg Castle. An archaeological, folklore and local history museum is located in a farm building at Kipfenberg Castle. The focus of the exhibition is on the representation of the Roman times in the province of Raetia, the construction and fall of the Limes, the migration period and the time of the first Bavarians in the Altmühltal region.
- The 1 Kipfenberg Castle itself is privately owned and not accessible, you can get an idea from the outside.
- The 2 Geographical center of Bavaria is located 500 m east of the castle (another 40 meters up) and is marked by a boulder with a plaque.
