Zala County - a county in the west Hungarian, over the border with Croatia and that Slovenia.

Geography
Zala County is situated in the Eastern Alps. It includes the Göcsej, Zalai and Keszthelyi hills. The main river of the northern part is Zala, the southern - Mura with its tributaries Kerka and Cserta. The county's surface is hilly.
History
The Zala County was established in the 11th century. After the treaty of Trianon, the south-western belt (Prekmurje and Medimurje) was severed from it, which was attached to Yugoslavia. In 1950, the territories north of Lake Balaton attached to of the Veszprém county.
