Korntal-Münchingen is a city in Strohgäu. It borders directly on the western districts of the state capital Stuttgart.

Korntal-Münchingen was created in 1975 as part of a community reform from the two independent places Korntal and Münchingen. The two neighboring places are separated by the A81: Münchingen is northwest of the motorway, Korntal southeast of it. The small district of Kallenberg is also to the southeast, it is right next to the AS Symbol: AS 17 Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen

Korntal was originally a manor, it became the seat of the Evangelical Brethren Congregation Korntal, After the First World War, the community lost this special status

Münchingen was first mentioned in 1130 and became part of Württemberg in 1336.

By train

Korntal can be reached by line S6 the Stuttgart S-Bahn. From Korntal, the Strohgäubahn goes via Münchingen and Hemmingen to Weissach. On selected summer Sundays, historical steam trains (with special tariff) also run on this route under the name "Fiery Elias".

  • The Green clasp is a connecting route between the districts, it goes from the country castle in Korntal to the Emmaus church in Kallenberg and the Spitalhof in Münchingen
  • The Green Heiner, a mountain that was created by embankment, which with its height of 395 m towers over the landscape by around 70 m. It is located next to the motorway in the districts of Korntal-Müchingen and Stuttgart-Weilimdorf. At its top there is a wind turbine that can be seen from afar. Popular vantage point and starting point for model aircraft.
  • The Solitude Avenue marks the connection between Solitude Castle and the Ludwigsburg residential palace and passes Korntal. The 13 km long route served as the basis for the land survey.
