As a result, the city achieved a certain level of prosperity. The Bernese plundered the city and the castle on June 8, 1476 by conquering Vaud Bern in 1536, La Tour-de-Peilz was placed under the administration of the Bailiwick of Vevey. When the canton of Vaud was founded in 1803, the city became part of this canton.
