Montreux is located on the Vaudois Riviera Lake Geneva and is known as the Pearl of Lavaux. The city has been an important destination since the beginning of tourism in Switzerland, as it is also a health resort.

From the most important Swiss centers such as Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich, Vevey can be reached by Intercity (IC) and / or InterRegio trains (IR) usually every half hour via Lausanne. Montreux can be reached from Lucerne either every half hour via Lausanne or every hour via Interlaken – Zweisimmen.
The connection from Lucerne via the Interlaken, Spiez, Zweisimmen, Gstaat and Château-d'Oex to Montreux is also under the term GoldenPass Line as a tourist highlight such as the Bernina Express or the Glacier Express known. With a little patience, Montreux can be reached every two hours during rush hour and with two changes in Interlaken and Zweisimmen.
Montreux is in the S-Bahn network of the tariff association Waadt, French Communauté Tarifaire Vaudoise (CTV), marketing name Mobilis integrated. In the street
The Autobahn 9 leads above Montreux through the Glion tunnel, the Montreux exit is to the west of this tunnel.
The direct journey from Basel is via the Autobahn 2 to Eggerkinden, from then on to Bern Weyermanshaus via the Autobahn 1A1. There on the Autobahn 12 change (from now on we stay on the E 27), which is above Vevey in the Autobahn 9 flows out. This is followed by the Vevey motorway exit and immediately afterwards the Montreux exit.

- An excursion with the rack railway from Montreux via Glion and Chaux to the 1 Rochers-de-Naye. The cogwheel train leaves at the train station, but for those who live in the district of Territet, it is closer to the funicular to 2 Glion to drive and only there to change to the rack railway. Even from Glion you have a beautiful view of the eastern Lake Geneva and the Alps, but the view from the summit is much better. You can see the Swiss and French Alps, including Mont Blanc, Lake Geneva, the Central Plateau and the Jura Mountains. There is also a restaurant in the mountain station.
- In summer you can go hiking up there or take a look at the mountain flora in the alpine garden, which is a short walk from the cog railway station.
- In winter, two ski lifts are in operation in the summit area of Rochers-de-Naye, serving several red slopes. There is another lift with a black slope at the Jaman cog railway station. Together with the unprepared route to the town of Caux, which is also on the route of the cog railway, they form a ski area. Although this does not impress with many (just eight) kilometers of slopes, the many different slope orientations, the challenging slopes and the beautiful view are really impressive.
- Visit of Blonay – Chamby museum railway (BC) on the weekends in the summer months. Once a month, a steam and an electric train run from Vevey via Saint-Légier and Blonay directly to the Railway Museum in Chamby-Musée (Chaulin).
