La Chaux-de-Fonds is a Swiss City in Canton Neuchâtel and has been part of the company since 2009 Le Locle to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. With their location at about 1000 m above sea level. M., La Chaux-de-Fonds is one of the highest cities in Europe.

The 8 Zoological garden(Zoo du Bois du Petit-Château) is open all year round from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (winter: 5 p.m.) and admission is free.

It's easy to get to from La Chaux-de-Fonds Doubswhose river course forms the border between France and Switzerland. The easiest way to get to the gorge is in the border village of Les Brenets, which can be reached from Le Locle by a small train. From Les Brenets there are boats that sail on the Doubs in summer. There are several restaurants further down the gorge, into which an easy hiking trail leads.

The mountain 2 Tete de Ran with impressive views of the Alps, the Lake Neuchâtel and the Jura can be climbed in a good 3 hours 15 minutes (approx. 9 km, 335 m difference in altitude) from the train station via easy hiking trails. It is just under an hour (2.5 km) from the Vue des Alpes Pass (accessible by PostBus or your own car).
