Lake Lucerne or Vierwaldstättersee is a body of water located in Central switzerland in the center of the Swiss.

Understand

  • One of the most beautiful lakes in the country for its varied scenery, its differences in height, its colors, its attractions for its habitats and the modern history of Switzerland which began here.
  • 38 kilometers long from the mouth to Flüelen-Seedorf, at the weir at Lucerne de la Reuss, it is located 434 meters above sea level, covers 114 km2, and reaches a depth of 214 meters.
  • It breaks down into several defined locations:
    • Luzernersee (Lucerne Bay)
    • Küssnachtersee (Küssnacht bay)
    • Horwerbucht (bay between Hergiswil and Stansstad)
    • Chrüztrichter (between the 3 aforementioned bays: Luzernersee, Küssnachtersee and Horwerbucht.
    • Vitznauerbecken (part of the lake between the Bürgenstock, Weggis and Vitznau)
    • Gersauerbecken (part of the lake between Buochs, Beckenried, Gersau and Brunnen)
    • Urnersee (part of the lake in the canton of Uri between Brunnen and Flüelen)
  • Most of the municipalities are a very successful mix between the rustic and modernity of the dwellings, with an urban layout careful not to compromise the visual appeal of a splendid clean and orderly decor that combines the calm of the water and the harshness massifs. All the cities have restaurants, hotels, as well as some campsites and lodges.
  • The sunshine contributes to creating a privileged and sought-after site, like all the shores exposed to the north such as: Lake Geneva, Lake Zurich, Lake Lugano, Lake Maggiore, Lake Thun, etc ...
