Las Grutas is known for its high water and air temperatures and for the desert-like ambience that is somewhat reminiscent of the Mediterranean. The place is very crowded in January and February, but outside of these two months it is also a worthwhile destination for those looking for peace and quiet.

background

The place is located on a steep coast, below which the beach is located. There are numerous grottos in the rock face, hence the name.

Las Grutas was a quiet holiday resort until the 1980s, which was mainly known to campers. From 1985, however, it began to grow rapidly, as more and more guests came to appreciate the flair of the place. Today more than 200,000 people visit it every year.
