background

The small town of Lauterstein has a very young history: it only came into being in 1974. At that time the two places Nenningen and Weissenstein united to form the new town of Lauterstein. The district of Nenningen is in the valley of the Lauter Cuties flows into the Fils. Weißenstein lies in a narrow side valley, it lies below the castle, in which the Lords of Rechberg once lived and the town was granted city rights as early as 1391.
