LeRoy (more rarely: Le Roy) is a place southwest of Greater Rochester in the US state new York. The Village of LeRoy is part of the larger one Town of LeRoy.LeRoy is famous as the first location of the Jell-o jelly maker, who now operates a museum here.
background
Settled since 1793 Town of LeRoy was founded in 1812 as the "Town of Bellona". It received its final name the following year. The Village of LeRoy was founded in 1834. In the 19th century, manufacturers of household chemicals and patent medicines such as S. C. Wells & Co. settled here.
