Pola Lednickie

The Lednica (Polish: Lednica) is a lake on the Gnesen Lake District in the polish Voivodeship Greater Poland. The elongated lake with numerous islands, peninsulas and bays is one of the largest natural bodies of water in the voivodeship. The early medieval Slavic settlement is located on the largest island in the lake Ostrów Lednicki as well as the pilgrimage site Pola Lednickie on the western shore of the lake Way of St. James lies. Some historians are of the opinion that Mieszko I received Christian baptism here in 966 and thus Christianized Poland.

It is a widely branched postglacial lake with numerous bays and peninsulas. The lake is very narrow and very long and has several arms. It is often used by water sports enthusiasts. The Główna drains the lake to Warta.

You can also easily get to the lake by bike.
