background
Leknes is a city with lots of shopping opportunities and an important transport hub on the island of Vestvågøy. Leknes is also sometimes pronounced "Laknes".
getting there
By plane
- 1 Leknes airport (IATA: LKN). The airport has only a short runway with a length of 1070 m and is not suitable for large machines. There are scheduled flights from Bodø to Leknes, which are more in the upscale price category.
It is cheaper to travel with the airline's low-cost airline Norwegian to Bodø or Harstad /Narvik. From Bodø you continue by ferry to Stamsund and then by bus to Leknes. From Harstad / Narvik there is a bus (Lofotenexpress) to Leknes.
By boat
It is best to use the shipping line Hurtigruten of Bodø or Svolvær to Stamsund. From there you can take the bus to Leknes.
By train
The closest train stations are Narvik and Bodø. Of Narvik continue by bus (Lofotenexpress), and from Bodø use the ferry.
By bus
The Lofoten Express runs from Narvik to Leknes. A drive to Leknes takes about 6 1/2 hours.
