Leverkusen is a city in the south North Rhine-Westphalia on the right bank of the Lower Rhine.

The area around Leverkusen has been settled since Roman times, as can be seen from grave slab finds. The city was first mentioned in the 11th century.

Important large companies are Bayer AG and Lanxess AG.
