Esperanto congress
Lille ran in 2001 to organize the Universal Congress in 2005, commemorating the centenary of the first Congress of Esperanto, which took place in 1905 in Boulogne-sur-Mer (same region). Then finally the UK took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, but in Lille the 100th UK took place in 2015, according to a decision of the UEA board on March 24, 2013.
