Tourist Attractions

  • port - The harbor is a popular meeting place with excursion restaurants, souvenir shops and a play ship for children. The ferry to the neighboring Danish island also leaves here.
  • Elbow tip - Anyone staying in List can visit the northernmost tip of Germany. The extensive dune area is under nature protection and is privately owned. A Toll road leads to the eastern tip (car: € 5 in 2014). The elbow is accessible free of charge on foot and by bike (walking time 3 hours) The toll levied on cyclists since 2006 (€ 2 per bike) was declared illegal by the Schleswig-Holstein Administrative Court (status 05-2009). However, the owner community has announced that they want to go into the revision. Incidentally, up to 800 cyclists use the toll road during the summer season.
Two Lighthouses on the elbow (west and east towers) warn shipping about the not harmless coast. There are many treacherous currents on the coast that are dangerous for bathers - therefore bathing is prohibited. The Seals can be observed near the coast.
  • Listland dune area - The protected dune landscape is located west of the village. In the 18th century the dunes were planted with beach grass to stop their migration. Before that, they had repeatedly threatened List's houses. Even today there are still some shifting dunes. These move at around 4 m per year.
  • Oyster farming - Germany's only oyster farm is located in Lister Watt. There are 2.5 million oysters here. You can buy the oysters in List or try them in the restaurant.
