Lloret de Mar is a city on the Costa Brava in the spanishCatalonia.
background
Lloret, the actually so small town, grows out of itself during the main season. Then the culture and history of the once tranquil fishing town will long be forgotten. Because then the youngsters between the ages of 16 and 26 have conquered Lloret. From then on, all you have to do is drink, dance, date. Where 16,000 people live out of season, the hotels swell to 300,000 people in the middle of the year and Lloret becomes as big as every day Aachen or comparable cities in Germany. Lloret also has a completely different, mostly unknown side.
In the Middle Ages, the then small, tranquil town of Lloret was an important point for the Celts, Iberians and Romans. Because of the massive rocks that surround the bay of Lloret, fortresses and settlements were built there. From these you could see enemy ships from afar and thus build up the defense in good time. One of the fortresses is the "Castle of Tossa" in Tossa de Mar. In addition to the "Castle of Tossa" there are numerous other fortresses in the immediate vicinity of Lloret. It's easy to find if you walk a little along the coast. There is a narrow but well-paved path along the entire coast towards Tossa.
After the Middle Ages, Lloret gained importance for the trade which brought Lloret short-term wealth. But soon Lloret devoted itself entirely to fishing again until the wave of tourism in the 90s also reached Lloret ...
