Locorotondo is a city of Puglia.
To know
Geographical notes
It rises in the Valle d'Itria where centuries ago tradition has it that the river of the same name flowed.
When to go
The climate of Locorotondo, located on an altitude of medium hill and several km away from the sea, is in an interlude between the Mediterranean and the continental. Winters are moderately cold, with episodes of arctic air and snow, summers are hot and dry, interspersed with some stormy episodes and fresh mistral breezes. As for the rain, Locorotondo is one of the wettest locations in central-southern Puglia, having in fact an average of 750 mm per year, about 180 more than the capital Bari; thanks to a particular hilly orographic position, and the lack of barriers in the immediate vicinity.
Background
The birth of the municipality of Locorotondo dates back to around the year 1000.
