Mallawī (Arabic:ملوي‎, Mallawī) is a city with about 140,000 inhabitants[1] in Middle Egypt South from el-Minyā west of the Nile. It is the administrative seat of the district of the same name and the seat of a bishopric.

The city of Mallawī is located 42 kilometers south of el-Minyā mainly on the western side of the Ibrāhīmīya Canal.

The city can be easily reached by taxi via the trunk road el-Minyā reach out.

By train

Mallawī can be easily reached by train from Cairo or el-Minyā reach out. The 1 Mallawī Railway Station is located on the eastern side of the Ibrāhīmīya Canal.

Express trains from Cairo take a little more than four hours for this route. The train at 07:00 in the morning is the best option. If you no longer have a ticket from Cairo get to Mallawī, ask for a ticket Asyūṭ; the ticket in 2nd class costs LE 25 (as of 3/2004). There are no trains to Cairo in the afternoon, only after 7:00 p.m. and later.

  • 13  Fūrtīnīya Palace (قصر فورتينية, Qaṣr Fūrtīnīya). The palace is in the southeast outside the city, east of the new canal bridge, north of the road.
