the Vanoise massif is a high mountain range of French alps which culminates in the Grande Casse (3 855 m). It stretches about thirty kilometers from north to south and fifty kilometers from east to west. It is bounded to the north by the Tarentaise, that is to say the upper valley of the Isère and to the south by the Maurienne, that is to say the valley of the Arc. The Vanoise massif is located in the department of Savoy. Thus delimited, it integrates the Lauzière massif and the Grand Arc to the east separated by the Col de la Madeleine (1 993 m) of the Vanoise massif taken in the strict sense.

The Vanoise national park and the ski area of ​​several very large winter sports resorts occupy a large part of the massif and offer significant and diverse tourist attractions.
